In our design process (from the product to the packaging and transport), we take maximum care to try to:
- Design the products using the lowest possible amount of raw materials to achieve the necessary requirements.
- Maximum optimisation of the use of all the raw materials, in order to generate the minimum possible waste (Controlling the measurements of raw materials).
- Design and optimise the use of waste for new products so that they do not have to be recycled (use of foam remnants, boards, remains of D27foam for packaging, etc.)
- Design the production process optimising the use of resources and necessary energy.
- Design products with high durability so that they do not turn into rubbish soon (there is a big difference between a piece of furniture that lasts 2 years and one that lasts twenty).
- Design the packaging to use the minimum possible plastic and cardboard, in order to generate the least amount of packaging possible.
Design products taking into account transport, creating removable elements that occupy less volume and bearing in mind the measures of trucks and pallets to optimise the volume of trucks.

Description of the raw material: It is one of the fundamental components of the frames, they are pieces of wood obtained from felled trees.

What we do: All the wood used is obtained from wood managed in a responsible and controlled manner with a sustainable repopulation (PEFC certification scheduled for November 2019).

Recycling: We recycle 100% of wood waste. Also the wood shaving or sawdust generated during the process. They are used for the manufacture of particle boards and pellets for heating.

Description: The particle board is a material composed of wood particles of different sizes, joined together by some type of resin, glue or other material and then pressed at controlled temperature and pressure to form the board.

What we do: All the boards used meet the CARB2 standard of zero emission of formaldehyde (this regulation is only mandatory in the United States, but all our products do comply).

Recycling: We recycle 100% of the remains of fibre boards generated during the production process. They are used for the manufacture of particle boards and pellets for heating.

Description: They are chemical liquids used to provide the glues with the necessary characteristics to be effective. They are also used as a cleaning element for the tools used to apply the glues on the components of the sofas.

What we do: Only 2% of the glue we use contains solvents that evaporate. We also use very little solvent to clean the tools used to apply these glues. The waste generated yearly is minimal (28 litres in 2017 and 0 litres in 2018). All the solvents that we use are free of Toluene, which is considered hazardous to health and whose use was prohibited.

Recycling: In case of residues (which are minimal), they are delivered to companies authorised for their handling.

Description: Fibre or wadding is a carded layer made from polyester that is used to quilt or cover pillows, or as filling for back and scatter cushions.

What we do: All fibres used are 100% polyester and do not contain any element that is internationally prohibited.

Recycling: We recycle 100% of the waste (it is sold for the manufacture of stuffed toys).

Description: It is the material made with interlaced threads that is used to cover the sofas. It can be manufactured with natural materials (cotton or linen), different types of polyester or acrylics, or recycled fabrics.

What we do: The fabrics and dyes used comply with all European regulations. We use all three types of fabrics to manufacture the sofas coating.

Recycling: We make the most of the fabrics to try to generate the minimum waste. The remains of materials are collected and separated from plastic and paper. Then they are recycled to create new textile materials. Leather like fabrics cannot be recycled for this purpose, so they are crushed and converted into a fuel with high calorific value and a minimum level of air pollution, which is being used instead of coal or diesel that are much more polluting.

Description: It is the outside skin of animals (mainly cows), and it is used to make shoes, bags, outerwear or sofas, as is our case.

What we do: We use tanned leathers of animals treated with chrome, re-tanned with synthetic resins. They are tinted with aniline in drums, refining to water and free from Pentachlorophenol.

Recycling: We make the most of leathers to generate the least possible amount of waste. The remains are used for making samples, and sold for their recycling.

Description: It is the part that is used to protect the product during transport. The materials used are cardboard, plastic, foamed plastic and injected polyurethane.

What we do: Depending on the product, we use a type of packaging or another. We study the best way of packaging, to use the minimum possible wrapping for each model and element. All products do comply with European regulations.

Recycling: Out of all the materials used in our packaging, we only generate plastic waste, which is 100% recycled. Moreover, we also recycle separately cardboard and plastic from the packaging used by our suppliers.

Description: We use electric power that we buy from the Electric Companies.

What we do: We continuously improve lighting and processes to achieve the lowest possible consumption of electricity. (Domotics)

Description: We use pellet stoves as heating system in our facilities.

What we do: Diesel oil boilers have been replaced by pellet stoves in order to reduce the impact on the environment.

Recycling: The fuel used is created from the recycling of our wood and board remains.

Description: In the office, we are reducing the amount of printed documents, and only the essential paper is used.

What we do: It has been communicated to all customers and suppliers that we no longer use paper invoices and all the documents that we receive and send will be digitally filed (100% of our invoices from suppliers and customers are managed in digital format).

Recycling: The A4 and A3 sheets are re-used on the other side before depositing them in the recycling container.

Description: Liquid elements necessary for production. What we do: The only liquid waste that we generate is the one related to toilets and personal use (toilets, WC and cleaning), and is deposited in the town sewerage network. We do not pour any type of liquid on the floor.Recycling: Water is not recycled currently. We have plans to improve the design of the new facilities that we are currently designing.

Description: 100% of the waste produced during our production processes is recycled separately. We do not generate industrial waste, the total of our waste is recycled or regenerated. We only generate a small amount of organic rubbish generated by the staff during the breakfast break. Remains of packaging and paper are separated for their recycling. Even the coffee grounds are recycled separately to be used as fertilizer for our gardens.

What we do: We are committed to trying to start up new improvement projects with the objective of keeping the amount of Industrial Waste generated at 0 level.

Recycling: we recycle 100% of our industrial waste.

Description: We export 75% of our production, it is very important to optimise the transport.

What we do: We design the sofas trying to optimise their volume whenever possible, trying to make them with removable parts or with spaces inside to store cushions. Many of our models occupy half of the usual volume. We also take into account the measurements of trucks when creating new models to optimise the volume of trucks and containers. We try to buy raw materials and components from suppliers nearby. With high volume raw materials (like foam), the air is extracted to compact it, reducing the volume to one fifth.

These are the most important Materials and Services used in our industrial activity. There are other materials and services that are minority, but that we also analyse and try to optimise year after year.
There is also an Environmental regulation that affects us (there are many regulations and Regional, National, Community and World Standards). If you want to know more about these aspects, you can ask us.
For us it is also very important that besides being committed to the fulfilment of all these legal requirements, we also commit ourselves to try to comply with other requirements that despite not being mandatory, are demanded by a large quantity of people related to our activity, in one way or another.
